Chud tools g5 download
A lot of good applications require at least Mac OS X Still, Mac OS X The usual PowerPC Mac applications are missing. I just mute it on my mixer when not in use.
Like other folks have said, I haven't found a solution. Seems like a design vulnerabilty that no one at Digi has identified. Sloppy QA. You might have better results asking for people to chime in who have NOT had this problem.
Ask them to describe their system in detail, see if you can ID what's different from yours. Yeah good thought. Right now i'm thinking it relates to the poorly designed G5 power supply which i'm investigating having switched out by Apple for free.
Could be wrong Is it a G5 dual 1. My Studio. This will be a short post so sorry if I skimp on details : The problem is the Computer. This should cure the problem. Only downside to this fix, and it is a fix, is that everytime you start the computer you have to disable napping again if you are planning to use pro-audio and need to get rid of the noise.
The solution for this is to write a script in OSX that automatically disables napping for you at system startup. Disclaimer The above post was is about fixing the noise generated by many macs when using core-audio. Supposed reasons for the problem are Peace All. The Mbox 2 whine is different to the CHUD fixable whine that affected earlyish G5's this was caused by the cpu switching states very quickly in the same manner that some swtiched mode psu's can exhibit this kind of problem.
Installing CHUD and turning napping of wont fix it. They are slowly returning them all one by one to digi for exchange. Its not an earth loop or anything of that nature but a physical problem with the hardware. Good Luck GFX. I had stated in my original post that i am aware of the CHUD tools fix and that it doesn't work for this problem. Cool, so i'll take it back! Can anyone confirm that this fixes it!
I've called the shop, they say they're familiar with the problem and expect to give me a new MBox2 in a matter of days. So far so good! Turnkey in London. Like i said, so far so good. Don't want to speak too soon. It's G5 2. I've had this set up for a few months, and it just started doing this after I removed my vs's out of the studio. I tried breaking the loop with an adapter, and that worked. But I need a permanent fix. I ordered one today. I will report back.
All of the other things are unnecessary. You just have to break that ground loop and the noise will dissappear. I have that noise, but only when listening to the internal converter. My external interfaces are silent. I don't think it is a ground loop. If you're not experiencing noise in the monitors, then it has nothing to do with the ground loop issue.
Not really sure what you mean by "listening to the internal converter. It's a very irritating noise, to say the least. I have this same thing on my G4 with I am trying to figure it out. I just put the computer in a machine room for the first time so it could be that the fans were drowning it out before. For several valid reasons. Score: 2 , Funny. Re:Dichotomy Score: 5 , Informative. The reason is that Nick Ciarelli is making beaucoup cash from Think Secret. It has been a cash cow for him. The blog world is having a field day with this case but the reality is that Apple is not trying to limit what blogs report, and they do not consider Think Secret to be a blog site. It is a rumor site that has broken the law by soliciting confidential information and compensating those who choose to divulge confidential proprietary information.
Good write up on the reality here [daringfireball. July 23, SteveM. Re:Dichotomy Score: 3 , Informative. WTF are you talking about? Re:bravo apple Score: 2. Re:bravo apple Score: 3 , Informative. Hyperthreading is marketing-speak. An "hyperthreading" CPU is simply a fake dual-cpu with a dual input pipe and only a single execution unit. That's just wrong. Hyper-Threading is a marketing term for a perfectly legitimate microarchitectural feature more generally known as simultaneous multithreading SMT.
SMT has nothing to do with "dual input pipes" and absolutely requires more than "a single execution unit. The Pentium 4 processor with. I don't know about AMD's "Bravo" but Intel's isn't going to be delivered until they put something in that plastic box with a clock on the front that they tried to pass off as some sort of mock up wanna-be Mac Mini. If we ever do see A quad processor mac it will likely be in a server configuration such as the xServe, not in a PowerMac.
Please read carefully, I never said dual core. I commented on the support for more than 2 processors. I even quoted it in my response. Quad processors in servers? I suspect a dual-dual config will hit the desktop at least as soon as it hits the rack, and probably sooner. Re:Quad processors in servers? I think that depends solely on the use of the server. We needed processing power when we chose ours.
