Thanks for responding to my previous message. What actually worked for me was weird. While the game said "Downloading Game Settings" and appeared to go nowhere for 10 minutes straight. I simply unplugged my router. Guys, I had this problem also. I spoke to my ISP, they asked me to check my router settings to see what ports my PS3 was using on my router. I told them this info and they said they will priorotise the traffic to these ports.

COD4 online has run like a dream ever since, i can get into games with in a few seconds and my settings download almost instantly. My ISP is surfanytime. I have heard that the big ISP companies dont offer a good service for gaming at peak times e. We have finally fixed our problem with it being stuck on 'downloading game settings I have no idea why this is, maybe somebody with a little more knowledge about this can enlighten me.

J Roadley Active Member. Getting same, am having to reboot BT Home Hub a lot more now. Yet, e-mail, usenet, surfing is all OK. I had same problem on saturday, did a little searching on the net to try and resolve the problem as i thought it had something to do with changing from a wifi conection to wired conection using homeplugs, but alas not. A lot of advice pointed towards turning off the upnp within the routers settings, did this and alls been great since.

I also use a BT HomeHub and you can turn off upnp within the hub manger program. Hope this helps Craig. Thanks, have turned of upnp. Ive had this problem for the past few weeks where when you try and play online this pop-up would come up and sometimes take over a hour to get past, well I found a solution to it!

Its very easy, simply keep going back and forward from the 'Play Online' screen to the menu where it shows the public game types. It sometimes takes me 10 goes to get it right but it does work!
