Instrument training with microsoft flight simulator

Of course, the that is behind the paywall. I incorporated MSFS in my curriculum on a regular basis. Well, that is up to you sir. Personally I cannot trust in this game yet. Everything that happens in the cockpit I suspect is a bug, you know what I mean.

Sorry, I should have been clear. I was referring to the C non G version. I have some old plates and practice NDB approaches also. Using a home sim to practice real IFR is just about procedures. You can not mimic the stress and angst that can occur if you get behind the plane on a real instrument flight. The false signals the body gets in real IFR cannot be simulated and must be experimented in a real airplane.

But in a home Flight Simulator, we can learn the basics of instruments and their function well. In a real flight that costs a lot of money and time and effort. No Problem. As a pilot, we always have to be precise in words and actions! NOT a substitute for real air time but an enhancement for it. Prepar3d would probably be my recommendation at this juncture technology wise since FSX is essentially deprecated thanks to Microsoft.

I've got upwards of hours on PC-based flight simulators over the past 20ish years. V1-Vr-V2 , Apr 5, It's great for that. I'd go Prepard3D though since it's basically FSX with newer graphics features and is still being developed.

YMMV but no complaints here. Cheap enough. Joined: May 21, Messages: 65 Display name: Pappy. A couple of quick thoughts from someone who has used a home sim for a long time.

FSX out of the box stinks. The planes are crap, the weather is crap, the nav database is ancient However, with a few add-ons it can be really good.

Buy a decent 3rd party airplane that suits your needs, get a good weather program, buy some ground scenery, and an aftermarket GPS simulation, and voila. It takes a lot of time tweaking to get it to work like you want, and if your computer can't handle it, then you're not going to be happy with the choppy mess that ensues.

X-plane 10 is really really good. Default airplanes are equally ugly but the simulation is light years better. Scenery and weather are great out of the box, and the failure simulations is unmatched. It seems to track what you are doing via flight data. I will talk more later as I progress through the content, but I have to say that was wrong about both of the products in my initial post. They are both deserving of attention and have a good amount of thought and effort put into them. There is no reason for anyone to not get this.

Furthermore, my initial post could have simply been dismissed by the developer as nonsense and disregarded. He took the time to reach out to me and offer IFR, the latest product for free for me to experience it and, hopefully, change my mind. The fact that he has done that makes him stand out as someone who obviously cares about the experience and tries to put out a quality product.

Well done, Sir, and please accept my humble apology. I am only human and we all make mistakes. I was wrong. I will also purchase IFR to show my support. Hi, I purchased this product and followed the instructions for installation dragged the IFR folder into the Community folder. Missions 1, 2, 3 are missing, even though they are present in the missions folder. Any ideas? Best would be having the offer directly in the marketplace.

So that all can find it easily. The content of this original post no longer reflects my views and has, therefore, been deleted.
